The staff were amazing and made our experience special. They went out of their way to help with anything.

We loved the Old School feel of this resort. Great beach front. Great location in Waikiki

No balcony , very dated , pool closed at 5 , all pink chairs and umbrellas shown on site were removed before 5pm . Homeless everywhere , right next to property . The bar staff was great , the valet guys were awesome , fantastic customer service , but the hotel itself, not so much .

Location and view from room were awesome. Door to room stuck and needs attention, staff were unfriendly. Bell men watched me unload suitcases from my vehicle and did not offer to help or even greet us. Check in staff did not do a proper check in. We were told that by a second staff member who did eventually answer our questions.

The Royal Hawaiian is our favorite Hawaii resort. However, several changes have been made since our last visit. These are nit picky, but problems none the less. 1) Water is provided free in-room. However, they've switched from plastic bottles to carton. It leaves an after taste that is awful. 2) The stools were replaced ar the Mai Tai bar. They are shorter than the others. Consequently, at 6 foot, my head comes up to just above the bar. I felt like I was in a high chair. 3) The bed was one of the worst at any hotel I've ever stayed at. Lumpy, with no support pillows. Except for the bed, nothing but praise for the hotel and staff

The Royal Hawaiian has a reputation of being one of the oldest and most charming resorts on Oahu. The place is showing its age. The staff were not very helpful, we asked for a wine bottle opener 4 x's before a maid told us one was already in our room with the coffee, which it was. The shower had mold along the curtain rod, the bathroom had someone else's long eyelash stuck to the sing counter, which was marble so possibly hard to see when cleaning, but we found it. The property itself is beautiful and the beachfront is amazing. The bar on site was excellent and the restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast was supper slow in seating, serving and returning the bill. Last the hotel was going under major renovations along with two adjacent hotels. That information was not disclosed when we booked, and for the price per night I wish they would've informed us. We would've easily booked another place.

Breakfast food was about the only highlight well for almost $700 a night by the time they add on taxes and "resort fee" for absolutely nothing we paid $5200 for 1 week it was definitely not worth it plus charge another $65 for valet parking plus tax to park your car 20 feet from the front doors. only 1 restaurant unless you want to eat at the $350 meal and it was absolutely horrible! mediocre bar food at best for a luxury hotel. room was clean but definitely nothing special. Paid $275 for a cabana at the pool and the area around it was completely under construction with scaffolding and horrible jackhammering all day long. cabanas look NOTHING like the reservation. they have blah colored cushions and they put beach towels over them, cabana canopy was dirty and, mildewed and our lounge chairs were so faded out they looked pale red and had huge tears in them that they covered with beach towels again and were soaking wet. unreal. they also charge $100 for beach loungers that they allow non buyers to put their towels and bare butts 2 feet in front of you. just no guidelines just complete hand out for money and over the top tips expected and not even worth the value of an economy hotel. we paid $550 for 2 luau dinner tickets , again horrible tiny portions not buffet people weren't even eating their plates and the show was a knock off 1950's elvis type world war 2 theme. not hula or fire dancers. the whole experience was just horrible. Dont waste your time with this "luxury" advertised hotel because its definitely not luxury. they claim the $52 a day resort fees are for activities, they offer child bead bracelet classes 1 time a day or yoga and they think that justifies. At breakfast we witnessed a server kicking a pigeon almost into oblivion because it miscalculated and flew into the inner area it was trying to get out and he just kept football punting it back in so he could abuse it. It was one of the worst things ever ever witnessed. Made ,me sick!

The Royal Hawaiian is a classically beautiful hundred year old hotel with Gorgeous grounds and a respite from the main drag of Waikiki, which is only steps away. You feel as if you’re in a different world. We didn’t love the room. We got an Ocean view room with a King bed, which was the last such available. While it was as advertised, we didn’t love the room. Furnishings were minimal; there was only one chair. It had a handicapped shower, which was functional but not desirable if you don’t need it. It did have an ocean view, but it wasn’t the best. The carpeting in the hallway was dirty in spots and either needed a good clean or replacement. For a five star hotel that was priced like one, these are legitimate gripes. Still overall it was a lovely experience and the atmosphere is unparalleled anywhere else in Waikīkī.

We had a beautiful room on the sixth floor looking out at the ocean. We can hardly wait to go back!

Wonderful oasis in a busy city. They are currently doing updates to the tower in preparation to celebrate a century. Love the history and nostalgia of the hotel.

Beautiful hotel and great location. The vibe inside this hotel is exceptional Their pool is too small for such a beautiful hotel.

TRIP RUINED BY BUILDING WORKS I spent a fortune on one of the best rooms and the room was truly stunning but the pool experience was terrible. They had full construction going on at the Tower and the noise ruined my trip. I tried sitting with ear plugs in but all I heard was drilling and dust everywhere. The hotel itself is ridiculously stunning and I will always love this hotel but there are a few pointers. Aggressive breakfast staff. Unfriendly and pushy. In out mentality with no kindness or Aloha spirit. Felt like New York. My maid was horrible. She was definitely looking for tips and would fake this ‘what room are you in?’ chat but when we were struggling to pack and leave our room she became unfriendly and grumpy. Also an older Hawaiian pool attendant shouted at me like a child to move my pool lounger. Very very rude!!! This man genuinely shouldn’t be working here as he lets your hotel down. So beautiful hotel, BAD STAFF! And no disclosure on building works.

The location was amazing, it was beach front and shops as soon as you step out of the resort, everything was walking distance. We also love the history and feel of the resort, we were in the Historic Ocean King, Guest room which was beautiful and we got an upgrade to the Historic suit, ocean view which was roomy and had magnificent views of the ocean. We also loved the staff who shared the Aloha spirit. Unfortunately there were renovation to the tower which wasn't pleasant with the noise. When booking accommodation there should be a disclosure to say that the resort is going to renovations as a pre-warning. Also we would have thought that the beach chairs and umbrellas would have been included in our resort fees considering the resort was quiet pricey.

The location is excellent, on the sand and adjacent to great shopping and restaurants. The property shows a lot of wear and tear, and you pay a premium for that experience.

Great tradition with an amazing location and excellent service. Our historical room was well appointed and when we had an AC issue, maintenance responded immediately and fixed it. The Mai Tai Bar has good food and lovely live musicians every day. Azure Restaurant is phenomenal with its 3-, 4-, or 5-course meals.

The Royal Hawaiian is the place to stay on Oahu. Beautiful hotel. Elegant, quiet, amazing staff. It has a beautiful beach and feel secluded yet it is just steps away from beautiful luxury shopping.
