Motel 6 Newport News, VA

I picked this motel due to the high ratings I had read. I called ahead and gave a time I would check in. I had to call a number when I came for someone to check me in. I asked for a front room but was told they were all taken. The attendant kept asking me if I was alone which was odd. I drove around to the room and discovered it was the last room in the last building in the back. There was no parking left and there was a tow truck and a bunch of cars taking up the few spaces. I turned around and went back to the desk and told him the situation and said I wanted another room closer with parking in front of the room. He told me there was nothing else available except rooms with 2 beds and put out his hand and said I had to pay extra. I said I was not paying extra and that I passed other rooms on the way back that I could see were empty. He said they were all “smoking rooms”. I said I don’t smoke and I have allergies. Then I told him I only picked his hotel due to the high ratings. THEN he decided to give me a room at same rate in bldg 2 in the front. I get out the car and there are roaches greeting me at the front door and inside. The pluses- hot water, functioning A/C and comfortable bed. The cons- flat screen tv with no channels, ice bucket but no ice machine in view. In the morning I told housekeeping there were roaches in the room. She said exterminator comes monthly. I told her to go to Walmart and get insecticide to spray and it lasts 6-12 months. She just smiled.

The room was clean. Very decent motel for the price. Convenient to City Center.

Bare bones, no shampoo in the room, wavy floor.

New furnishings. Poorly lit property, some room lights did not work & desk clerk looked/dressed like something from a slasher movie. I arrived 12 minutes early and they wanted an additional $20.

Man at front desk was very rude, did not understand English well. Tried to charge me for my 1 cat, had to remind him 1 pet is free. Got Checked into room, tv not working, smell of old stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming, 3 roaches in were in the microwave, 2 in bathroom in the tub and 2 or 3 crawling on wall. Saw several more at various times thru the night on walls and floor. . Not a bunch, but it was enough!! Decided Went to front desk to dvised and asked to switch rooms, to which I was told no, and said he would go fix the TV for me Came back, tv fixed, cigarette burns on comforter, floors dirty, sink had hair and a glob of toothpaste in it. Phone didn't work,,

Good weekly rates, Microwave did not work Tv blinked in and out, cable problem in some of the stations I guess not really there fault God prompt housekeeping Goodvtrash receptacles around

Great for privacy and spur of the moment

Reserved 2 rooms and both the water ran constantly until we shut the valves off ourselves. There were holes in the walls. The bedding, sinks and showers were covered in cigarette burns/holes. In case of emergency our phones did not work our phone in the rooms did not work. The fridges did not shut and leaked all over the floor. The microwaves in the rooms did were burnt up and did not work. Air conditioners did not run properly. Check in was told to me and in my reservation for 1pm. I had just driven over 12h with no sleep from the day before to arrive by that time and then got told I had to wait another hour to check in so he could finish his lunch he just picked up while I waited for over 20 minutes in the lobby. The following day the lady who checked us out of our room was very nice and polite. We will not stay here again.

Comfortable stay! Only thing missing is a microwave in the room but everything else was good.

Poor front desk help. First lady was good but the other two after her were poor.

The rooms smelled and while clean were not really comfortable so we checked out and booked another place.

It took a while for the ac to cool down the room since it was totally turned off when I arrived
